Chappell, Lillee, Richards, and the Most Electric Moment in Australian Cricket
The Ashes Rivalry
The Ashes rivalry between Australia and England is one of the oldest and most fiercely contested in cricket. The rivalry began in 1882, when a touring Australian team led by Billy Murdoch defeated England at The Oval in London. The Australians won the match by seven runs, and a mock obituary that appeared in a British newspaper referred to English cricket as "bodyline dead." This incident gave rise to the term "Bodyline," which would later become synonymous with a controversial bowling tactic employed by Australia in the 1932-33 Ashes series.
